Shell and Tube Heat ExchangersA shell and tube heat exchanger is the most common type of heat exchanger in oil refineries and other large chemical processes, and is suited for higher-pressure applications. One fluid runs through the tubes, and another fluid flows over the tubes (through the shell) to transfer heat between the two fluids. Plate & Frame Heat ExchangersA plate and frame heat exchanger is a type of heat exchanger that uses metal plates to transfer heat between two fluids. This has a major advantage over a conventional heat exchanger in that the fluids are exposed to a much larger surface area because the fluids spread out over the plates. This facilitates the transfer of heat, and greatly increases the speed of the temperature change. Large commercial versions use gaskets between the plates, smaller version tend to be brazed. |

Oil CoolersProduction equipment that incorporates a hydraulic power unit typically needs cooling. Water cooled oil coolers are often the equipment manufacturer’s choice because of their low cost, small size and no need for ventilation. In facilities with cooling water problems, air cooled oil coolers are an excellent alternative. These eliminate the cost of water and provide a source of ambient heat for the cold months. General Air Products offers both! Send us your application data today to we can size the right heat exchanger for your application. |
