Residential fire sprinkler systems are designed to save lives, but even the best systems won't work with closed backflow valves.

General Air Products has developed the Insure Flow, a new and innovative solution to the potentially devastating problem caused by an unsupervised closure of a backflow control valve.

Every unit is pre-assembled for fast installation and alarmed for valve closure and system flow.

Insure Flow - System Description

Insure Flow Design Description

The Insure Flow unit is an alarmed backflow control valve package specifically designed for installation in residential fire protection applications. This equipment is installed between the supply water to the house and the sprinkler system. The unit is used to prevent the backflow of water from the sprinkler system to the household water supply.

The Insure Flow includes a sprinkler water flow switch and flow alarm bell. The unit, when properly installed and operated, is designed so that the backflow test valves can not be closed without setting off an alarm. If a valve is left closed the door will not shut completely. Any time the Insure Flow’s door is open a strobe light will come on indicating the possibility of a closed valve. If the door remains open for more than 30 minutes an alarm horn will sound.

Additional Notes:

- The Insure Flow has tie in points for remote alarms throughout the house. It is equipped with a loss of power relay that can be used to indicate when the Insure Flow has lost power.

- The flow switch is designed to be tied into the alarm and control system. It incorporates an adjustable retard (time delay) to avoid false alarms. The alarm bell supplied with this unit is already tied to the flow switch.
